Community Arts Projects

August 15, 2007 - Due to the elimination of arts funding by Guilford County, the High Point Area Arts Council announces that its Community Arts Projects Grant program will be suspended until these funds can be restored or replaced.

Community Arts Projects grants are awarded once a year to nonprofit organizations for arts projects that benefit High Point area residents.

Applications for Community Arts Projects are evaluated based on:

  • Artistic and programmatic merit
  • Benefit to audiences/participants
  • Responsiveness to community needs
  • Involvement of racially and culturally diverse participants as appropriate to the project
  • Organizational strength of the nonprofit applying for the grant

Generally, grants are for $1,000 or below, must be matched dollar for dollar, and are to be spent on arts projects in the High Point area. The project must be completed and evaluated prior to June 6, 2007.

Deadline for applications is Wednesday, November 1, 2006. Grant applications may be mailed or delivered in person to the High Point Area Arts Council office at 200 Fisher Avenue (behind the Ham’s Restaurant on N. Main Street). Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. For further information, contact the Arts Council at 889-2787 ext. 23.
